Our Beliefs

Jesus Christ is the focus of our faith and teaching at Faith Bible Church.

OUR DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the verbally inspired Word of God, the final authority for faith and life, inerrant in the original writings, infallible, and God-breathed. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)

We believe in the Trinity which is one triune God, eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-eternal, co-identical in nature, and co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections. (Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14)

We believe the Virgin birth of the Son of God, His substitutionary sacrifice on the cross for the sins of mankind, His resurrection from the dead, His ascension into the Father’s presence, and His Second Coming to the earth to reign. (Matthew 1:23; Colossians 2:9)

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and that He is the Supernatural Agent of regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption. We believe that God does hear and answer the prayer of faith, in accord with His own will. (I Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 1:13-14)

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God; and that man is totally depraved, and, of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. (Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23)

We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, as a substitutionary sacrifice; and all who believe in Him are justified by His shed-blood. (Romans 5:9; John 3:16)

We believe that all who receive, by faith, the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit, and thereby become children of God. We believe that all the redeemed are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever. (John 1:12; I Peter 1:23; Romans 8:14; John 10:28-29)

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead bodily, that He ascended into Heaven, and that He lives in Heaven today in the same body in which He arose from the grave. (John 20:19-20; Acts 1:9)

We believe that salvation is entirely and only by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, that no work of any description can in any way earn our salvation, but on the other hand, that good works are expected of those who have been born again. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

We believe in the personal, imminent, pretribulation, and premillennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ; first, to catch up unto Himself the Church and then to return to earth with His resurrected saints to establish His Millennial Kingdom. (John 14:3; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Jude 14)

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust; the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost. (Revelation 20:12-15; John 5:28-29; John 14:3, Dan 12:1-2)

We believe in the one true Church, the body of Christ, composed of all who have been born again through faith in Christ Jesus, and only of such. As members of the one body, all members are united by the Holy Spirit to one another and all in Christ, who is the Head of the Body, the Church. (I Corinthians 12:12-13; Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 1:22-23, 4:25)

We believe the following movements are out of harmony with the Word of God and contrary to the official doctrine and position of Faith Bible Church:

  • The modern Ecumenical movement with such advocates as the National and World Council of Churches.
  • The Neo-Evangelical movement characterized by cooperation and dialogue with theological liberalism.
  • The so-called Charismatic movement characterized by a strong emphasis on tongues, healing, and miracles. (I Corinthians 12-14)
MARRIAGE and SEXUALITY

We believe the Bible teaches: that Marriage is ordained by God and joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union as husband and wife. (Gen. 2:24, Matt. 19:4-6)

We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor. 6:9-10, Matt. 5:28)

We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage. (1 Cor. 6:9-10, Heb. 13:4)

We believe that any other form of sexual conduct, such as adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, or use of pornography is considered immorality and strictly forbidden by God’s teaching in the Bible. (1 Cor. 6:9-10, Rom. 1:26-32, Gal. 5:19-21, 1 Ths. 4:3-7, Jude 1:7)

Sanctity and Respect of Human Life

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. (Gen. 1:26)

We believe that human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. (Genesis 25:22, Job 1:21, Psalm 139:13–16, Psa. 22:10, Jer. 1:5, Luke 1:41)

Believing this to be the teaching of the Scriptures, and having the witness of the Holy Spirit that we are the children of God, and therefore, being a part of God’s church on earth, we invite all who have the same precious faith as we, to unite themselves with us for common edification and Christian work with Jesus Christ as Head and final authority.
